About
This blog is where I jot down things I’ve experienced or thought about — travel, geography, wildlife, subculture, computers, and whatever else catches my interest. Life tends to turn up new things to be curious about, so expect this to stay a bit of a grab bag.
It’s a blog I built myself, by the way. As someone who studied information science, I felt it was right to write my own code and set up my own infrastructure rather than reach for something like Hatena Blog or note. Building it myself also makes it easy to bolt on new tools, which is part of the fun — the extensibility is a real plus.
This isn’t my first self-built blog. There’s a first attempt I threw together without much thought, which I’m planning to retire, and a second one — a tech blog that’s mostly a collection of links. This one makes three. Here, I plan to post about pretty much any topic that catches my interest. The one exception is my travels, which are basically my lifeblood — those get their own dedicated blog, where I’ll write up trip reports (or travelogues, or misadventures — take your pick). What lands here instead are the byproducts of those trips, and the occasional roundup of past travels organized by theme.
Even if AI ends up generating text for us, I still think there’s something worthwhile in writing for yourself — the fun of creating hasn’t gone anywhere. That belief, plus wanting to produce rather than just consume, is really what got this whole thing started.
Up to now I’ve mostly stuck to writing plain technical posts, but I’ll keep working at writing things that are actually enjoyable to read — so if you have a spare moment, I’d be glad if you stopped by.
